How To Deal with Anxiety Attacks?

Anxiety attacks can be a major problem for you. Anxiety makes you feel short of breath, dizzy, tense, going to die, going crazy, anxious and really afraid.

There are several things that can help in dealing our anxiety level. Some of them are:

Limit caffeine: The caffeine only adds to the tense, jittery, anxious feeling. Take caffeine in less quantity because it reset your system. Caffeine coupled with exercise can make you feel crazy. You get a minor headache as you go through caffeine withdrawal.

Travel: The simple act of sitting down, and calming down, can help a lot to the nerves of brain. But travel helps a lot in calming down. Travel helped because it made it easier to relabel the experience.

Martial arts: In the martial arts you train yourself so that fear doesn't dominate in a tense situation, so you can act with calm and control your nervous energy, regardless of how you feel. So, if you spend some time in learning martial arts, and focus on conquering fear when you hit or block you'll find that your internal spirit becomes stronger.

Limit Carbohydrate: The most important principle is to limit carbohydrate intake. Doing so will virtually eliminate anxiety as a problem. The lack of insulin-producing carbohydrate in the form of sugar and refined flour had a profound effect on anxiety levels.

Therapy session: Therapy sessions are an excellent form of treatment. Patients are taught to recognize the feelings which lead to episodes of anxiety by way of changing their thought patterns.

Breathing techniques: There are simple breathing techniques that you can learn to eliminate feelings of dread and prevent an anxiety attack.

Books, tapes and videos: Many excellent books, tapes and good videos you can watch which are very effective in relieving stress.

Avoid conversations: avoid conversations that are likely to increase your anxiety when you're tired, overwhelmed, or stressed.

Try to laugh: The act of laughter stimulates endorphins that help blow stress hormones out of your system the way a good thunderstorm can blow away hot, humid weather.

Cognitive Therapy: The patient learns how to identify and change unproductive thought patterns by observing his/ her feelings and learning to separate realistic from unrealistic thoughts.

Behavior Therapy: This treatment helps the patient to alter and control unwanted behavior. Systematic desensitization, a type of behavior therapy, is often used to help people with phobias and OCD. The client is exposed to anxiety-producing stimuli one small step at a time, gradually increasing his/ her tolerance to situations that have produced the anxiety.

Relaxation Training: Many patients suffering with anxiety disorders benefit from self-hypnosis, guided visualization, and biofeedback. Relaxation training is often part of psychotherapy.

Medication: Antidepressant and antianxiety medications can help restore chemical imbalances that cause symptoms of anxiety. This is an effective treatment for many people, especially in combination with psychotherapy.
